FDC & Sustainability

FDC incorporates sustainable strategies in new construction and renovation projects at UNCG. Some of these strategies include the following:

    • Preserving open spaces and protecting native habitats.

    • Preparing erosion and sediment control plans for new projects.

    • Recycling and construction waste management plans.

    • Reuse of building materials where possible.

    • Conserving water by incorporating low-flow faucets, shower heads, toilets and urinals.

    • Use of energy efficient mechanical, electrical and lighting systems, such as occupancy sensors, compact fluorescent & LED lighting and central energy management systems.

    • Finally, the 2007 Master Plan Update includes sustainable development as a guiding principle in the design and construction of future projects on campus.
