GER 589
"German Civilization"
Second
Assignment
|
Building
a "Webliography"
Because students will be taking
the course in different locations, we will be using electronic communication
techniques to collaborate and share research links and teaching resources
online.
For the second course assignment, you will be using a special
web based bulletin board called webliography to post bibliographical
resources for Ger 589 projects. This Webliography
forum allows students and the instructor to share links and webpage
addresses. It builds an interactive archive of course related Internet
resources.
To add a link on the Webliography, you "Post a Message", which includes
your name, e-mail address, URL address (http://...), link title,
and a short description outlining what is special about your posted website.
When you click a submit button, the Webliography forum writes and links
your message. Others may read your message, click on the link. |
For this second assignment, you will practice (1) posting your
own
link
and message in the class webliography forum, (2) visiting others' links
and messages posted there, and (3) posting followup messages to one of
your classmates' contribution. All messages (original postings and followups)
should be in German, although English is an option!Hint:
Read "Keyboard Shortcuts
for Foreign Characters."

Online Assignment: Webliography
Forum - FIRST PRACTICE SESSION - Posting website addresses and links
This section of the assignment will require you to enter our online
Webliography
forum, identify two links related to the topics listed above, compose
a short commentary about your URL finding, then post
it for others to read. This webliography forum is one type of "virtual
research archive." When we "post or comment" there, it’ll be like
talking in a regular classroom, except that we’ll be writing what we say
instead of presenting it in class. Reading will stand in for hearing. This
means that what you post here will be seen by others, so keep that in mind.
As in any other class, your task will be to present and comment your findings
on a particular topic, in this case early German civilization.
Your assignment is to post URL addresses and brief descriptions of four
websites you found most useful during your inquiries. [By now you should
be familiar with the procedures to copy/paste
URLs]
When you’ve written your webpage commentaries, press the Post
Message button.
Remember that you’ll need to come back to the forum, visit everyone
else’s links, and post an additional response. |

Assignment: Webliography
Forum - SECOND PRACTICE SESSION - Posting a followup
Now that we've each had a chance to "present research -- electronically
-- at the front of the class," go back to the Webliography
forum and check everyone else’s contribution. Choose one or more of
the links to post a "followup" commentary. |
