German, Russian, Japanese, and Chinese Studies

German Program

The overall mission of our German Studies program aims to impart a solid proficiency in the German language as well as a transcultural understanding of German and central European civilization in the context of a humanistic education. In addition to pursuing a German Bachelor of Arts degree, students can major or minor in Russian Studies or Asian Studies. Portions of these programs are linked to the International and Global Studies Program. More advanced courses emphasize language, literature, and culture studies, which are the primary goals of the German major and minor. A German B.A. degree can also be pursued in tandem with a Masters degree in UNCG's Bryan School of Business. This Accelerated Masters Program for German Majors provides the opportunity to complete a B.A. in German (U171) and the M.B.A. degree within four years.
