German, Russian, Japanese, and Chinese Studies

Online

The Department has been on the forefront of technological innovation since the mid-1990s. German and Russian faculty members were among the first to develop and present state-of-the-art curricular designs to infuse traditional classroom practices with online and web-based content. The aim of our online initiatives is simple and straight forward. It is to provide more language instruction to more students in more locations than is currently available. Online German courses utilize a well-tested and established program, called Tell Me More, to deliver instructional components and laboratory exercises to master first-year and second-year proficiencies. Sections of the German 101-204 program are now offered online, and the Department is looking forward to expanding the sequence to reach broader student audiences across the State and the nation. Russian Studies faculty received an award for designing an innovative online course focused on Russian and African Studies. Several more online upper-level courses for Russian and Liberal Studies (BLS) students are among the most popular in the program.
