German, Russian, Japanese, and Chinese Studies

Minor

Through a Minor in German you will gain insight into the history, literature, and contemporary culture of German-speaking countries as well as develop an advanced competency in the German language. The intensive study of German literature and culture will help you to develop strong writing and communicative skills that are crucial for careers in journalism, public relation, publishing, or advertisement, teaching, governmental service and international trade. Our program also provides a good preparation for graduate school and will—especially when you decide to combine it with the study of a discipline such as history, philosophy, geography, or sociology - increase your chances to enter high ranking graduate program in the humanities and social sciences.

For completing the minor you need 15 semester hours above GER 102, to include GER 203 and 204 plus 9 additional hours, at least 6 of which must be at the 300 level or higher.
