Angie Anido grew up in Corona del Mar, California. She ventured east to attend the University of Virginia where she graduated with a degree in Biology. She has interned at the St. Joseph Hospital Cancer Genetics Program and enjoys volunteering at CHOC whenever she can. Angie loves living in downtown Greensboro where she hosts "people watching parties" on the weekends. When she isn't doing school work, she likes to watch Grey's Anatomy, any reality TV, or Sex and the City. acanido@uncg.edu |

Katie Farmer grew up in Tallahassee, FL and graduated from Florida State University in 2006 with a BS in Biology. Between college and UNCG she worked in a pediatric endocrinology office in Tallahassee. She now works for Educational Consultants, Inc. as a high school biology tutor while attending school. |

Kate Major was born and raised in Mechanicsville, VA. While in college at the College of William and Mary, she was an Orientation Director, pep band member, and a volunteer at an early education and development center for preschoolers with special needs. In 2007, she graduated with a BS in Psychology and Philosophy. At UNCG, Kate is a graduate assistant for the genetic counseling program. Lindsey Presley grew up in the small town of Jonesville, Virginia. She received her undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech in biology with a minor in psychology in 2007. She did undergraduate research in the infant perception laboratory and also studied abroad in Germany, Switzerland, and Italy. In Greensboro, Lindsey works for Educational Consultants tutoring students in basic skills. In her free time she loves to play and watch sports, take road trips, and hang out with the other girls in the program. |

Diana Smith was born and raised in Fort Jennings, OH. She graduated in May 2007 from Ohio Northern University (ONU) with a BS in molecular biology and a minor in biochemistry. While at ONU, Diana played 4 years of varsity soccer, participated in various school organizations and volunteered at Crossroads Crisis Center. Outside of class at UNCG, Diana works for the Guilford Genomic Medicine Initiative assisting with health fairs and data entry for community and physician surveys. In her free time, she enjoys playing and watching sports, hanging out with her classmates and cheering on the Buckeyes! “I chose to attend UNCG's Genetic Counseling Program because of the warm feeling I got from the campus and the faculty. Asheley Supik graduated from Pennsylvania State University in May 2004 with a BS in biology and a minor in environmental science. After graduation, she worked with Volunteers of America in Northern Virginia, coordinating services for adults with intellectual disabilities. Asheley also volunteered with Trisomy 18 Support Foundation, creating support materials for families. She works as a graduate assistant with the NCEC's Sickle Cell Disease and Newborn Screening Program and with Lindly Habilitations, providing services to children with disabilities. Asheley's capstone project is titled: Genetic counselors knowledge and utilization of the implications of the cognitive and behavioral characteristics of Fragile X syndrome. In her free time, Asheley is getting acquainted with the local music, food, and outdoor activities in North Carolina. “After meeting the faculty and students at UNCG, I knew that I would excel in this program. The director and assistant director do their best to ensure that our program provides a collaborative learning experience. Both are active members of the Genetic Counseling community and strive to introduce you to all aspects of this field. Tomi Toler grew up in Missouri and Iowa. She attended the University of Missouri-Columbia (Mizzou) and graduated in 2007 with a BA in Psychology. During her time at Mizzou, Tomi volunteered for the Special Olympics, was a Summer Welcome Leader and worked as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant for a Biochemistry course. Tomi is a HUGE fan of Mizzou sports, especially football, and roots for the Tigers whenever she can. Tomi worked as the Graduate Assistant in the Student Employment Office her first year. Tomi's capstone involves creating a resource for individuals involved in genetic research. |

Lori Carpenter grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She attended Southern Nazarene University near Oklahoma City, OK where she received a B.S. in Biology-Chemistry. Lori spent two summers participating in undergraduate biomedical research programs at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX before she decided to pursue genetic counseling. Lori has a graduate assistantship with Genomedical Connection at UNCG. When she has free time, Lori likes to visit places in North Carolina with her husband and hang out with her classmates. “UNCG’s Genetic Counseling program has so much to offer. Not only is it located in a beautiful state, a few hours from both the mountains and the ocean, but the program has close relationships to some of the best research and medical institutions.
