Dr. Bennett's research interests include population patterns, trends, and migration. Among his books are The U.S. and Canada, Tension Areas of the World, World Population Problems, Applied Human Geography, Snapshots of the Carolinas and A Geography of the Carolinas. Professor Bennett has published articles in both books and journals, including Land Economics, Southeastern Geographer, Journal of Applied Gerontology, Geographical Survey, Geographical Perspectives, Zero Population Growth, Global Environmental Change, and The North Carolina Atlas. His grants include a $52,042 award from the Economic Development Administration to study the economic impact of retirees on non-metropolitan counties along the South Atlantic Coast.
