Dr. Debbage's research focuses on the economic geography of the tourist industry and regional economic development issues. He is the author of over 40 publications, which include articles in the Annals of  Tourism Research, Geographical Bulletin, Journal of Transport Management, Journal of Transport Geography, Policy Studies Review, Tourism Management, Regional Studies, and Transportation Quarterly.  He has also co-authored a book titled The Economic Geography of the Tourist Industry and written six additional book chapters. Among his honors and grants are three funded land-use corridor studies for Greensboro, N.C., and an economic development report for Action Greensboro. He received the Roy Wolfe Award for Outstanding Research in tourism geography from the Association of American Geographers in 2002.
