Welcome!
On these pages you will find information about my research, teaching, and other activities as a political geographer. I am currently on the faculty in the Department of Geography at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. In addition to political geography, I have interests in the subfields of urban, cultural, and economic geography. My regional focus is Europe, particularly Germany and its neighbors.
Political geography is broadly concerned with questions of how and why space is organized politically. Borders are perhaps the most obvious manifestation of the political organization of space, but one need only scratch a bit under the surface to discover that geography impacts, and is impacted by, politics in myriad ways and in many places. Topics addressed by political geographers include electoral geography, geopolitics, urban and regional governance, and ethno-territorial conflict. My own research and writing interests are found on this site.
