Visions

IMPORTANT: To take classes during the summer, contact the Division of Continual Learning.

Visions is a program offered to visiting and non-degree students who already hold a bachelor’s degree.

To see a list of recommended courses for Visions Students, click here.

Prospective Visions students may want to take one or more courses for a variety of reasons including personal enrichment, professional knowledge, or renewal of teacher licensure. Visions permits students to register for classes without being admitted to a particular program of study.

Visions students are not admitted to the University, The Graduate School, or to a specific degree or certificate program. However, credits earned at UNCG through Visions are recorded in the University Registrar’s Office on an official transcript. Students enrolled through Visions need to complete an enrollment form every semester. There is a $20 non-refundable enrollment fee each time.

Visions Enrollment Form

Visions students are required to submit a Visions Enrollment Form each semester they would like to participate in Visions along with the $20 enrollment fee.

The Enrollment Form can also be filled out online. When filling out the Enrollment Form, please fill out the dropdown options as shown below, selecting the appropriate term. Visions Dropdown selections

The Visions Enrollment Form is located at grs.uncg.edu/forms/visionsform.pdf; however, submitting a paper enrollment form will result in a longer processing time.

Visions Eligibility

To be eligible to enroll, you must:

  1. Have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited College or University.
  2. Not be currently enrolled as a degree student at UNCG.
  3. Do not have an application for admission to The Graduate School under review for the same semester.
  4. Check with the department of interest (e.g., Art, Business Administration) and meet special requirements that may exist for that department.

Questions about eligibility should be directed to The Graduate School (336-334-5596).

Submitting the Enrollment Fee

Registration information (student identification number, PIN, advising code, and dates for registration) will be emailed with permission to Visions students through the last day of late registration, Monday, January 25, 2010.

To receive registration information by postal mail the Visions enrollment form must be received in The Graduate School by Friday, January 15, 2010.

Students who submit the Visions enrollment form after January 16 and do not wish to receive registration information by email will be required to pick up their registration information at The Graduate School.

Visions enrollment forms will be processed in the order received until the final day of late registration on Monday, January 25, 2010.

Submitted Visions forms will be reviewed in The Graduate School and a decision made quickly about the student’s eligibility. When a student is deemed eligible to register through Visions, data will be entered into the UNCG student information system.

Students deemed ineligible to register for courses through the Visions program will be contacted by The Graduate School.

Advising

Students considering later enrollment in a degree program are strongly encouraged to present academic credentials to the department’s graduate director in order to determine whether course credit earned through Visions will apply toward the degree.

  1. No courses below the 500-level will count toward a graduate degree.
  2. A maximum of 9 hours in courses numbered 749 and below may be taken through Visions and applied to a graduate degree or 3 hours for a certificate.
  3. Individuals who have questions about enrolling as non-degree students are welcome to call The Graduate School (336-334-5596).

Registration

Visions students may register for any unrestricted courses as class space permits. To complete registration please access the UNCGenie web registration system from any computer equipped with a web browser.

Registration opens 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from Monday, November 30, 2009 until Monday, January 25, 2010. The UNCGenie system requires use of the student’s Personal Identification Number (PIN).
