UNCG Alum James M. Frabutt Publishes Book

HDFS extends congratulations to Dr. James Frabutt on the publication of his book Beyond Academics: Supporting the Mental, Emotional, and Behavioral Health of Students in Catholic Schools (Charlotte, NC: Information Age Publishing). Jim contends that in order to provide the greatest learning opportunities for students, it is not sufficient to simply develop students’ learning capacities. Instead, schools must be concerned with holistic student wellness, as overall school improvement will only be attained if mental, emotional, and behavioral health in schools is advanced and supported. He argues that meeting such needs is fostered by faith, which resides at the heart of what Catholic schools do: bring human life to fullness. Jim did his MSc (1998) and PhD (2000) at UNCG; Carol MacKinnon-Lewis was his doctoral advisor. Jim is now a faculty member at the University of Notre Dame in the Mary Ann Remick Leadership Program that prepares teachers to assume administrative positions.
