Roger Mills-Koonce to Join HDFS Faculty

HDFS is delighted to announce that Dr. Roger Mills-Koonce will be joining our faculty as an Associate Professor effective August 1st. Roger took both his undergraduate and graduate training at UNC-Chapel Hill. After completing his PhD in developmental psychology, Roger stayed at his alma mater as a Research Scientist and Research Assistant Professor. With substantial grant support, Roger has been a prolific scholar. His research includes a psychobiological approach to the study of parenting and parent-child relationships, children’s emotional and regulatory development, and the processes underlying the emergence of early conduct problems in young children. In addition to his ongoing work on these topics, Roger is very interested in nontraditional family structures, and has recently launched a program of research that integrates family demography and biopsychosocial methodologies in the study of families headed by lesbian and gay parents. As a person who enjoys teaching, Roger’s presentations demonstrated an informative, engaging style that spoke to a diverse audience. HDFS welcomes Roger and looks forward to the outstanding contributions he will make. (For further information see
