IN MEMORY OF DENISE HOLLAS

On Friday, May 10, the Child Care Education Program (CCEP) held a celebration of the life of Denise Hollas, former CCEP Assistant Director. After an illness, Denise passed away February 27, 2013 at the young age of 60. Having joined UNCG’s staff in 1994, she was a valued member of the CCEP and the HDFS family. Denise was dedicated to providing the best childcare to each and every child. Along with her duties at UNCG she worked tirelessly with state and national agencies advocating child welfare. She will always be remembered for her caring spirit, her celebration of life, and her concern for others. A memorial fund has been established to assist families in need enrolled at CCEP. Donations may be made to UNCG- CCEP Denise Hollas Memorial Fund.

KATHYRN PIKE IS RETIRING

Kate Pike, the Department’s undergraduate program administrative assistant, is going to retire effective June 30. She is planning to move to New England to be near family. Kate has been with the Department since October 2010 and with the University since 2003. She has been a very loyal and conscientious staff member who has helped many students and others in their dealings with HDFS. We will very much miss her and wish her the very best as she attempts to adjust to WINTER in New England.
