Dr. Anne Fletcher received the 2013 School of Health and Human Sciences/UNCG Teaching Excellence Award made possible by the Office of the Provost. Anne is an extraordinarily committed and effective professional who consistently sets high expectations for students. High expectations are echoed in the awardee’s philosophy statement where those expectations are wrapped in caring and support of students as individuals. She especially helps students develop strong communication skills. Students describe Anne as an “awesome” instructor. She is seen as well-organized yet engaging. Her excellent real-life examples bring the material alive. A master in leading class discussions, Anne is an upbeat faculty member who combines the very best in both style and substance in fostering her students’ learning.

Dr. Andrea Hunter received the School of Health and Human Sciences’ 2013 Contributions to Diversity and Inclusion Award. Within the School Andrea has served as the Director of the HHS Office of Diversity and Inclusion. Turning to her activities outside the School, Andrea has been lauded for her Town Squareeditorials in the Greensboro News and Record dealing with diversity, inclusion and social justice. Her innovations are helping to make HHS a leader in diversity and inclusion on the UNCG campus! Dr. Susan Calkins was recognized as one of the Top 10 UNCG Faculty members by the UNCG Student Government Association. Susan is an outstanding scholar and Bank of America Excellence Professor.
