Gilliam Scholarship
In 1979, Bess Gilliam Kerley, Class of 1940, established the Gilliam Scholarship Fund in memory of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Gilliam. Preference is given to students from Burke County.
Louise E. Lowe Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 1980 to honor Louise Lowe, a retired associate professor in Home Economics Education.
Madeline B. Street Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 1965 by friends of Mrs. Madeleine B. Street. She was a member of the staff in the School of Home Economics for 35 years, and was a Professor and Chair in the Department of Housing and Interior Design.
Mrs. John A. Kellenberger Scholarship
This scholarship was established by a bequest made by Mrs. Rachel Venette, a 1932 graduate of UNCG, to honor Mrs. Kellenberger. Mrs. Kellenberger was responsible for the restoration and preservation of Tryon Palace in New Bern, North Carolina. The scholarship is for students from Johnston or Onslow County.
Virginia Morgan Dysard Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Mrs. Virginia Morgan Dysard who received
a B. S. in Home Economics from UNCG in 1933. It was created to honor her love
of education and belief of service to the community.
Aden Magee Scholarship This scholarship was established by friends and colleagues to honor Aden Magee upon his retirement of more than 30 years of service to The School. The Aden Magee Scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate in the Department of Nutrition.
Amanda Joyce Patton Endowment Fund
This endowment was established in March of 1996 in memory of Amanda Joyce Patton by her friends and family. She graduated from UNCG cum laude in 1978 with a Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design.
American Apparel Education Foundation Scholarship Fund
American Apparel Education Foundation Scholarship Fund was established for the purpose of providing scholarship support for CARS and is awarded to students with a concentration in Textile Products Design.
American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS) Scholarship
The American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS) Scholarship is given to an active student member of the UNCG chapter. The students finance this award through various fund raising projects.
Annette L. Moore Scholarship Fund
This fund was established to honor Annette Longino Moore for her invaluable
assistance to the School of Human Environmental Sciences while she was president
of the North Carolina Dietetic Association. This scholarship is awarded annually
to upperclassmen who are majoring in Nutrition.
ARAMARK Scholarship/Internship
This scholarship/internship was established for the purpose of assisting students in the Nutrition program with financial support and work experience.
Avery Dennison Scholarship/Internship Program
This scholarship/internship program was established in 1998 to provide a student in Consumer, Apparel, and Retail Studies an opportunity to learn the product labeling aspect of the textile industry.
Cheryl Sosnik Scholarship
This award was established in 1998 to honor Cheryl Sosnik who majored in Human Development and Family Studies. The Cheryl Sosnik Scholarship is given to an undergraduate who is interested in working with children with disabilities and a major in Child Development.
Cultural Diversity Enhancement Scholarship
Created in 1989, this scholarship is awarded each year to students with consideration given to enhancing the diversity of the student body.
Dorothy Elliot Sink Scholarship
This award was established by Mrs. Sink and is given annually to an undergraduate in the School of Human Environmental Sciences. While at UNCG, Mrs. Sink was active in campus activities and has remained an active member in her community.
Dr. Helen A. Shaw Scholarship
This scholarship was established during the 1999-200 academic year to honor Dr. Shaw's retirement from UNCG. During her tenure at UNCG, Dr. Shaw served as a professor and chair in the Department of Nutrition and as Dean of the School of Human Environmental Sciences.
Dr. Nancy White Undergraduate Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 1988 by friends, former students, and colleagues of Dr. Nancy White, former faculty member in Child Development and Family Relations. Dr. White became the first student to receive a Ph.D. in Child Development and Family Relations in North Carolina, and the only student to receive a Ph.D. from The Woman's College.
E. York Kiker Scholarship
This scholarship was established in honor of Miss Kiker, an alumna and former marketing specialist with the North Carolina Department of Agriculture. The award is made to an undergraduate Human Development and Family Studies major.
Elizabeth Hathaway Scholarship
Members of the faculty of the School of Home Economics established this scholarship in honor of Miss Elizabeth Hathaway. An award is made each year to an undergraduate student majoring in Interior Architecture.
Elsa A. McMullen and Naomi G. Albanese Undergraduate Scholarship
This scholarship was established with a bequest from Dr. Elsa A. McMullen and
a gift from her friend and colleague, Dr. Frances H. Gailey, Professor Emeriti,
SUNY College at Oneonta. The scholarship was given in honor of Dr. Naomi G.
Albanese who served as Dean of the School of Human Environmental Sciences from
1958-1982.
Glenda Kay Mitchell Undergraduate Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Bobby J. Mitchell in memory of his wife, Glenda Kay Mitchell, Class of 1969.
Hattie, Hattie, Sallie Scholarship
This scholarship was established with a gift from Mrs. Isabelle Moseley Fletcher Perry '37 in loving and respectful tribute to three alumnae: her mother and aunts. This award will be given to a Human Environmental Sciences undergraduate student.
Helen Canaday Scholarship Fund
This scholarship was established in 1984 in honor of Dr. Helen Canaday, retired professor of child development. Awards are made to a Human Development and Family Studies undergraduate.
Human Environmental Sciences Alumni Association Undergraduate Scholarship
This scholarship was established by the executive committee of the School of Human Environmental Sciences Alumni Association. The Human Environmental Sciences Alumni Association Undergraduate Scholarship is awarded annually to an undergraduate student who is involved in extracurricular activities in the School and/or UNCG.
Irwin V. Sperry Scholarship
This award, based on academic merit, was established in memory of Dr. Irwin V. Sperry, former chair of the Department of Child Development and Family Relations. The scholarship is given to an undergraduate student in Human Development and Family Studies.
James B. and Carolyn L. Hunt Early Childhood Scholarship Fund
This scholarship was established in 2000 by the NC Partnership for Children in honor of Governor and Mrs. Hunt. This scholarship will carry on the legacy of the Hunts by supporting the educational advancements of students in the field of early childhood education. An award will be made each year to a student enrolled in the Birth-Kindergarten program.
James E. Vaughn Scholarship Fund
This scholarship was established by Mount Vernon Mills of Greenville, South Carolina in 2000, in honor of Mr. James E. Vaughn in honor of Mr. Vaughn's retirement. It is awarded to a Consumer, Apparel, and Retail Studies student who is a resident of North Carolina.
Julia Richman Scholarship
This scholarship was created to honor Mrs. Julia Richman, alumna and former faculty member in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies. It is awarded to an undergraduate student majoring in Human Development and Family Studies.
Kristin Anderson Scholarship
The parents of Kristin Anderson ('65) established this scholarship in memory of their daughter, who was killed in an airplane crash in 1969. The scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate student majoring in Interior Architecture.
Lucas L. Conrad Scholarship Fund
The Lucas L. Conrad Scholarship was established in Mr. Conrad's memory and in recognition of his commitment to higher education.
Lyda Gordon Shivers Scholarship Fund
This award was established in 1972 as a memorial tribute to Dr. Shivers, a longtime faculty member in the Department of Social Work. The Lyda Gordon Shivers Scholarship alternates annually between Sociology and Social Work, and is awarded to an undergraduate student.
Margaret Ann Wilkes Textile Products Scholarship Through The Women's Professional Forum
This scholarship was established by the Women's Professional Forum in memory of Margaret Ann Wilkes. Her role as a strong, confident leader in Women's Professional Forum is acknowledged through the establishment of this annual award. The recipient must demonstrate leadership and focused career plans in the apparel industry.
Margaret Ann Wilkes Textile Products Marketing Senior Award Through the Women's Professional Forum
This scholarship was established as a gift from the WPF Foundation in memory of Margaret Ann Wilkes. The recipient must be a graduating senior in the Department of Consumer, Apparel, and Retail Studies with preference given to a Marketing major who demonstrates leadership and focused career plans in the apparel industry.
Mereb Mossman and Virginia Stephens Scholarship
This scholarship was established by family and friends of Mereb Mossman and Virginia Stephens in appreciation for their leadership of the Social Work program. The scholarship is awarded annually to an adult undergraduate student in Social Work.
Mose Kiser Scholarship
This scholarship was established by friends and family to honor Mose Kiser, Sr., and is awarded annually to an undergraduate student majoring in Nutrition.
Nutrition Club Scholarship
The Nutrition Club Scholarship Fund was established with money raised by the members of the Nutrition Club. The scholarship is awarded to a Nutrition undergraduate who has actively participated in the Nutrition Club fund-raising and professional activities.
Pauline E. Keeney Scholarship
Members of the faculty of the School of HES, alumni, and friends established this in honor of Dr. Keeney, retired professor of clothing and textiles.
Phi Alpha Scholarship
This scholarship was established to recognize the academic excellence and professional promise of a student member of Phi Alpha, the National Social Work Honor Society.
Sam A. and Cornelia Lowe Rankin Undergraduate Scholarship
This scholarship was established with a gift from Mrs. Cornelia (Neil) Lowe Rankin who graduated from The Woman's College of the University of North Carolina in 1945 with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics. Mr. Rankin founded a textile mill in 1946 and began their interest in the textile program in the School of Human Environmental Sciences.
Stern-Ruskin Scholarship
The Stern-Ruskin Scholarship was established by Dr. Jerry and Mrs. Marnie Stern Ruskin in 1987 in honor of their parents, Ike and Dorothy Stern and Saretta Ruskin. The award is given to a student majoring in Social Work, with preference given to a student emphasizing study in gerontology.
Vera Armfield Foscue Scholarship
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Foscue established this scholarship in memory of Mr. Foscue's mother. Awards are given to undergraduates majoring in Interior Architecture and are based on academic achievement.
