Graduate Scholarships

Clem A. and Atha Wright Scholarship
The Clem A. and Atha Wright Scholarship was established through a bequest made by Mrs. Wright, a graduate of the School of Human Environmental Sciences. The scholarship supports a graduate student in Nutrition.

D. Elizabeth Williams International Scholarship Fund
In 1975, Miss D. Elizabeth Williams, a retired home economist, established an endowed scholarship for an international graduate student in the School of Human Environmental Sciences.

Dr. Emily B. Visher Fund
This fund was established by Dr. Kay Pasley in honor of her colleague and friend, Emily B. Visher, for her work in the area of Family Studies. Emily B. Visher, PhD, was co-founder of the Stepfamily Association of America and adjunct faculty at the California School of Professional Psychology, Alameda, California.

Dr. Nancy J. Sears Fellowship for Excellence
This scholarship was established to honor Nancy Sears who earned the first PhD in Textiles and Clothing at UNCG. This fellowship was established to provide funds for a graduate student who demonstrates high levels of personal integrity and character in Consumer, Apparel, and Retail Studies.

Dr. Richard Klemer Memorial Scholarship
Faculty and friends of Dr. Richard Klemer established this fund in 1972 to honor Dr. Klemer when he was a faculty member in Child Development and Family Relations. This scholarship is awarded to a graduate student in Human Development and Family Studies.

Harry Byrd Lee Adams Scholarship
This scholarship was established in memory of Harry Byrd Lee Adams, former owner of Adams Antiques of Greensboro. It is awarded annually to a Master's degree student who is majoring in Interior Architecture.

Human Environmental Sciences Alumni Association Graduate Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 1998 by the executive committee of the School of Human Environmental Sciences Alumni Association. It is awarded annually to a graduate student who is involved in extracurricular activities in the School and/or UNCG.

Jefferson-Pilot Corporation Fellowship
This fellowship, established by the Jefferson-Pilot Corporation, is awarded to a graduate student involved in research in the Department of Nutrition.

Louise Carter Hoffler Scholarship
The Louise Carter Hoffler Scholarship was established by W.J. Carter in honor of his wife, a 1926 alumna of the University. This award is given to a graduate student engaged in textile research.

Marion Stedman Covington Scholarship in Historic Preservation
The Marion Stedman Covington Foundation established this scholarship in 1999 to assist an Interior Architecture student pursuing graduate studies in historic preservation.

Mary Elizabeth Keister Scholarship
This fund was established to honor Dr. Mary Elizabeth Keister's contributions to the field of child development. This scholarship is awarded annually to support an outstanding doctoral student in Human Development and Family Studies for achievement in the areas of infancy and early childhood.

Naomi G. Albanese Doctoral Fellowship Fund
The fellowship was established by the Home Economics Alumni Association as part of the special recognition given to Dr. Albanese for her twenty-two years of leadership and service as Dean of the School of Human Environmental Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Preservation Greensboro Incorporated Program Fund
This fund was established with a gift from Preservation Greensboro Incorporated for the purpose of providing stipends for Interior Architecture students to attend historic preservation conferences.

Rebecca McCulloch Smith Scholarship
The fund was established in 1991 by George C. Smith, Jr., and John Randolph Smith to honor Dr. Rebecca Smith, a Child Development and Family Relations faculty member who retired from UNCG after thirty-two years of service. The scholarship is awarded each year to a graduate student in family studies.

Rev. and Mrs. G. D. Albanese Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 1971 in honor of Rev. and Mrs. G. D. Albanese, parents of Dr. Naomi Albanese, former Dean of the School of Human Environmental Sciences. The scholarship is awarded annually to second year graduate students in the Department of Nutrition.

Sarah and David Stedman Scholarship Fund
The Sarah and David Stedman Scholarship Fund was created in honor of Sarah White Stedman who received her BS in Home Economics from The Woman's College in 1942. This scholarship is awarded to a graduate student in Nutrition.
