HES Awards Record Amount of Scholarships for 07-08

Dean Laura Sims is proud to announce that HES is awarding $174,055 in student scholarships for the coming 07-08 academic year. This is a record amount! Over 120 HES students will receive scholarships funded by generous donors through the Human Environmental Sciences Foundation and the UNCG Office of Development. Our HES Foundation was established in 1946 under the leadership of Dean Margaret Edwards and the guidance of Business Manager, John Lockhart. Established to "aid and support all types of teaching and research," the foundation has built a strong endowment which continues to provide funding for scholarships, fellowships, professorships, and program enhancements.

The Human Environmental Sciences Foundation is governed by a volunteer board of directors which meets quarterly. Comprised of alumni and friends from the different fields representative of our five departments, the board supports the foundation with its time and resources and provides guidance in the stewardship of donations.
