UNCG Research Offices
The HES Office of Research assists faculty with both proposal preparation and grants
management once awards have been made. The University has several research offices
that also provide services to faculty. The HES Office of Research can serve
as your liaison with these offices as well. The primary functions of each of
the University-level offices providing research services are listed here.
- Oversees research activities at UNCG;
- Establishes research-related policies;
- Advocates internally and externally for research;
- Administers internal grant programs and research awards;
- Manages the establishment of research centers and institutes;
- Publishes UNCG Research.
- Provides pre-award services to faculty submitting proposals for external funding;
- Searches for funding opportunities;
- Reviews proposals;
- Maintains institutional and fiscal data needed for proposals;
- Submits electronic and mail submission of proposals to funding agencies;
- Prepares subcontracts;
- Provides authorized institutional signatures for proposals.
- Assists faculty in obtaining support from corporate sponsors;
- Consults on intellectual property issues;
- Makes determinations about commercial potential of inventions made by faculty;
- Assists faculty in establishing start-up companies.
- Supports research that involves undergraduate students;
- Administers the undergraduate research assistantship program.
- Assists in budget development and assures that budgets are in compliance with University policies prior to submission of proposals;
- Provides post-award services to faculty who have received external funding: 1) responsible for financial management of grants and contracts awarded to the University; 2) maintains accounts for grants and contracts; 3) prepares fiscal reports;
- Handles contract and grant policies
and procedures.
- Collects, analyzes, and disseminates information about UNCG for planning and policy purposes.
