Other UNCG Research Offices

Office of Research and Public/Private Sector Partnerships (ORPPSP)

• Oversees research activities at UNCG;
• Establishes research-related policies;
• Advocates internally and externally for research;
• Administers internal grant programs and research awards;
• Manages the establishment of research centers and institutes;
• Publishes UNCG Research.

Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP)

• Provides pre-award services to faculty submitting proposals for external funding;
• Searches for funding opportunities;
• Reviews proposals;
• Maintains institutional and fiscal data needed for proposals;
• Submits electronic and mail submission of proposals to funding agencies;
• Prepares subcontracts;
• Provides authorized institutional signatures for proposals.

Office of Research Compliance (ORC)

• Coordinates compliance with all federal, state, and agency regulations regarding research;
• Oversees the Institutional Review Board (IRB) for the protection of people who are participating in research;
• Oversees the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) for the protection of animals used in research.

Office of Technology Transfer (OTT)

• Assists faculty in obtaining support from corporate sponsors;
• Consults on intellectual property issues;
• Makes determinations about commercial potential of inventions made by faculty;
• Assists faculty in establishing start-up companies.

Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR)

• Supports research that involves undergraduate students;
• Administers the undergraduate research assistantship program.

Contracts and Grants

• Assures that budgets are in compliance with University policies prior to submission of proposals;
• Handles contract and grant policies and procedures.

Office of Institutional Research (IRE)

• Collects, analyzes, and disseminates information about UNCG for planning and policy purposes.
