I hope you will experience the energy and excitement associated with all of the programs in the School – from our accredited undergraduate and graduate programs, to inspiring and award-winning faculty, renovated facilities, as well as cutting-edge research and outreach programs.
In each of our five departments, we study the ways human beings develop and interact with the essential elements to sustain life (such as food, clothing, and the designed environments) and examine those services and policies that contribute to a better way of life.
Department of Consumer, Apparel, and Retail Studies (CARS): developing critical-thinking and problem-solving skills for students preparing for innovative careers in the apparel and textile industries;
Department of Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS): studying social and cultural influences on families, children, and elders and preparing students for professional careers in family and child care;
Department of Interior Architecture (IARC): studying design to improve the quality and sustainability of interior spaces and products;
Department of Nutrition (NTR): studying the role of nutrients and food to promote health and well-being;
Department of Social Work (SWK): preparing students as social workers who work to improve the interaction of people and society with passion and commitment.
