Alumni Awards
Each year, alumni from the School of Health and Human Performance at UNCG are honored on Reunion Weekend. An Alumni Awards Ceremony is held to honor these alumni for their important local, regional, national, and international contributions.

Ethel Martus Lawther Alumni Award
The Ethel Martus Lawther Alumni Award, named for the School’s first Dean, is given by the School to outstanding alumni who attained local, state, or regional recognition through their achievements in the areas cited in the criteria.
- The person shall be a former student (undergraduate or graduate) of the School.
- The person shall have made a significant contribution through scholarship, leadership or service, in their career and/or civic involvement.
Distinguished Alumni Award
The Distinguished Alumni Award is the highest honor given by the School to outstanding alumni. It recognizes persons who have attained national and/or international stature through their achievements in the areas cited in the criteria.
- The person shall be a former student (undergraduate or graduate) of the School.
- The person shall be outstanding or exemplary in one of the following traits and demonstrate talent in several of the others: teaching, coaching or administration; service (professional or civic), leadership (professional or civic) performance in dance or sport; research, writing, creative endeavors; human relationships and inspiration.
