To use this area of the site, select a link to the left. This will take you to an overview page. You will find a submenu at the top that will help you navigate either to a new category of tools (example: Communication > Asynchonrous or Synchronous) or to specific tools (example: Presentations > PowerPoint or Photo Story 3).
Learning online includes a range of configurations from fully online courses in which students and instructors never meet face to face to courses in which the preponderance of activity is face to face. This section includes information on effective strategies for presentations, communication, assessment, and setting up a web presence, whether it be a student portfolio or an instructor's research.
Web tools do not always fit neatly in the categories noted above. For example, Google Sites, categorized under Creating Websites, can also be collaborative and thus function as a communication mechanism. Ning, categorized under Communication, could also be seen as a web presence or even a course portfolio, thus functioning as a web presence.
