Services Provided by the HHP Office of Research
The major purpose of the Office of Research is to support School faculty members in their scholarly and creative research activities. The Office will attempt to handle the associated administrative details of proposal preparation/submission and project management so the faculty member can concentrate on academic content, study design, and the integrity of the proposal and project implementation.
To support HHP faculty members, a range of services are provided by the Office of Research:
- Identifying and communicating with potential research funding sources
- Arranging consultations on statistical planning, analysis and interpretation; evaluation and research design; instrument development
- Arranging internal and external reviews of proposals and manuscripts
- Coordinating budget development
- Preparing proposal application and certification forms
- Planning and facilitating meetings of multiple participants
- Communicating with University and external offices
- Assisting in the gathering letters of support
- Walking proposals to appropriate offices and final mailing
- Assisting in the management of on-going projects
- Electronic submission of applications
- Submission of applications for internal funding
Discussions between the faculty member and office staff at an early stage can delineate steps, timeline, key participants, and the acceptance of responsibilities important in the completion of a high quality proposal. Faculty members are encouraged to contact the office as early as possible for assistance in these areas.
