History

The Cheshire Center Award Fund for Communication Sciences and Disorders was established in 2006 by the Cheshire Speech & Voice Center Inc.

The Cheshire Center

The Cheshire Center for Communication and Rehabilitative Therapies is owned by Margie Gibbs Motsinger and provides services including speech/language pathology for infants/toddlers and children; pediatric occupational therapy; pediatric physical therapies; community based rehabilitative services for infants and toddlers; adult rehabilitation, including stroke rehabilitation, fluency training, voice disorders accent reduction and speech disorders; voice therapy; and language literacy and central auditory processing. Margie Motsinger is a 1980 graduate of UNCG with a M.Ed. in speech pathology. She started her business that year as a one-person practice and by 2006 it had grown to include some 90 employees working in a nine-county area. The center operates as both an independent provider and as a contract agency. Her treatment relationships in the community serve as innovative models for other professionals.
