The Rosemary Mcgee Scholarship

Eligibility
  • Full time rising sophomore, junior or senior in the School of Health and Human Performance, preference to a student in Kinesiology (formerly Exercise and Sport Science).
  • Minimum of 3.65 GPA.
  • Leadership, community service and financial need secondary considerations.
  • Renewable through senior year.

History

The Rosemary McGee Scholarship was established by Mary Miller Carson (Bobbi), Class of 1958, in honor of Dr. Rosemary McGee who served as a mentor, friend, and thesis advisor during Ms. Carson's undergraduate studies.

Bobbi Carson

A native of Taylorsville, NC, Ms. Carson had a career in athletics and physical education at the collegiate level. Her teaching career included positions at Bradford Junior College, The Pennsylvania State University, Wellesley College, Northeastern University, and Boston College. She retired in 1996, following 26 years at Boston College where she served as Associate Director, Athletics.

Dr. Rosemary McGee

Dr. McGee was a member of the initial Graduate Faculty in the Department of Kinesiology (formerly Exercise and Sport Science) for over 25 years. An active and respected professional leader in the field of physical education/exercise and sport science/human movement, she held numerous offices in scholarly associations, wrote books and articles for professional publication, and was dedicated to teaching. Dr. McGee was Acting Dean of the School of Health and Human Performance 1979-1980. She was awarded the distinguished Alumni Award by the UNCG School of Health and Human Performance after bestowing on her the distinction of "honorary alumna."
