Eligibility- Rising junior or senior majoring in dance.

HistoryThe Virginia Moomaw Scholarship in Dance was established by the School of Health , Physical Education and Recreation (now the School of Health and Human Performance) in 1975.
Virginia MoomawVirginia Moomaw was the coordinator of the Dance Division (now the Dance Department) of UNCG from 1945-1975. During her tenure at UNCG, Miss Moomaw was principally responsible for the development of the undergraduate and graduate programs in dance that included one of the first MFA degrees to be awarded in dance.
Professionally, Ms. Moomaw was active during the National Dance Association's formative years (known earlier as the National Section on Dance). She served as chair from 1962-1963, treasurer from 1948-1950, and secretary from 1959-1961. Further, she was active in the Southern District AAHPERD, serving as district dance chair from 1946-1947. She passed away in July 2003.
