Creating Web Sites
Creating Websites
Overview
Publishing websites on the Internet is both an important means of communication and, increasingly, a necessary skill. Among other things, it enables the use of multiple media that enhance communication in ways that were not possible before. There are an array of tools that instructors and students can use. A few that are available to UNCG users are described here. It is good to think through the technological requirements as well as how much time can be spent learning the technologies. It may be that part of the goal is to learn how to use technologies effectively. However, if the primary goal is to display content, then selecting a technology that is easy to use is advised.
Google Sites
Google Sites is part of UNCG's GoogleApps [iSpartan] and is available to all UNCG students, faculty, and staff. It is an easy tool in which to develop a site. Multiple sites can be built and access can be controlled. A site can now be copied out of iSpartan and into a personal Google account.
Creating Web Sites from scratch using HTML/CSS
The Instructional Technology Consultants in the School of Health and Human Sciences offer support for HHS development of websites via consultations.
Blackboard Wiki Tool
The wiki tool in Blackboard creates HTML pages on the fly. These wikis can be exported as a zip file and opened to display a website.
