Reading Analyses
Each Reading Analysis must be typed and composed in proper academic English. The Reading Analyses are your opportunity to think broadly and demonstrate your ability to connect developments in what are often considered different spheres: for example, politics, religion, technological developments, immigration, labor systems, gender relations, ideologies of race, and cultural practices. Use your own words in explaining your ideas and refer to the text to support your interpretation with specific examples. Any time you quote directly from the text or paraphrase closely please indicate the page number in parentheses. If you are drawing quotes or examples from the supplimentary reading or sources on the web please indicate the author and page number (Lebsock, 9) or an abbreviated form of the web site address (valley of the shadow, maps) in parentheses.
