WEEK EIGHT: A NEW REPUBLIC FOR WHOM?

Reading: Out of Many, Chap 9.
* You will also need to draw on parts of Chapters 7 and 8 to answer the following questions.

1.  During the revolution, the founding of a new government, and the early decades of the new nation, two opposing ideas about the nature of an ideal government developed.  Those holding one viewpoint coalesced around Alexander Hamilton; others followed the beliefs and leadership of Thomas Jefferson. What were these two opposing ideologies about the nature of government and society?   
Describe and explain.

2.   What can we tell about John Adams's ideas of government from the major actions taken during his presidency?

3. What can we tell about Jefferson's beliefs based onthe actions he took as President?
