UNCG Historical Society

Founded in 1981, the UNCG Historical Society (known then as the UNCG History Club) is the oldest departmental student group on campus. We promote the study of history through special events, lectures, movies, games, trips, and other events throughout the year.

All students and faculty of UNCG are welcome to attend, and we cater our meetings and programs specifically toward undergraduate students at UNCG.

Anyone is welcome to join the Historical Society. There are no dues and you do not have to be a history major or minor. All that is required is a willingness to learn and a love for the study and advancement of history.

For the Spring 2012 semester, the UNCG Historical Society will meet from 5pm to 6pm on Wednesdays in Gatewood Arts Studio Center Building room 204.

The group has recently adopted the 7th floor in Jackson Library. Starting in February, students will be able to view the group’s display on this floor.

This year, our spring trip will be May 4-7 to Jamestowne, Williamsburg, and Yorktowne, otherwise known as the Historic Triangle. The trip will be very inexpensive and all members of the club are invited. The link to the application is: https://docs.google.com/a/uncg.edu/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dGJBUTd5M1JfYjI3VFY0bEp5Uy1SNFE6MQ. Spots are limited….apply soon! The deadline to submit the application is April 1.
