Department of HistoryMaster of Arts Degree in History, American and European ConcentrationsThe History Department offers a M.A. in four concentrations. The American and European concentrations are described on this website (see Requirements for specific information). For the other two concentrations, Historic Preservation and Museum Studies, click on the Public History link at the left. The History Department has a faculty nationally recognized for its dedication to both research and teaching. Our graduate-level classes in all concentrations tend to be small and a feature a maximum of student-faculty interaction. This interaction is also fostered through an extensive advising and mentoring system designed to make the graduate experience not only intellectually rich but user-friendly. As Director of Graduate Studies, I will be your first advisor, helping you to custom design your plan of study and get you started in the program; I will remain, through your time here, available for general questions about the curriculum. Sometime during your first year you will also select a mentor, who will advise you in those areas of history that are of greatest interest to you. Richard Barton Forms For Graduate Students and FacultyThe following forms can be read using Adobe Acrobat Reader.
