Undergraduate Studies

Welcome to the Department of History's Undergraduate Studies page.

The tabs on the left hand side of this page will direct you to important information regarding the history major here at UNCG. Here you can find out more about our Course Offerings (with detailed course information prepared by individual professors), and the Learning Goals that guide these courses. The Student Handbook for History Majors has a wealth of important and useful information, and explains our specific requirements. You may also want to consult the relevant sections of UNCG’s Undergraduate Bulletin.

We also provide information about exciting opportunities such as Internships and Scholarships, as well as about associated programs that can complement a history degree, including disciplinary Honors in History and, for those interested in teaching school, Social Studies Licensure.

If you are a History major please make sure to read the information under the Advising tab. Our Advising Center is open and staffed for several weeks during the advising periods in fall and spring, which takes place immediately following the mid-semester break. The hours will be posted several days in advance of the advising period throughout the History Department and here on our Website. Please note that in-person advising is required every semester for all our History majors.

If you have any questions about the History major please feel free to contact me. I am available throughout the semester to assist with questions about Social Studies Licensure, transfer credits, study abroad, and anything else related to helping you make the most of your experience as a history major.
