| The following steps will serve to clarify the procedure a UNCG faculty or staff
member should follow to bring alleged improper activities to the attention of their supervisor,
director or other appropriate resources as defined in North Carolina General Statutes
Types of alleged Violations include: o A violation of State or Federal law, rule, or regulation o Fraud o Misappropriation of State resources o Substantial and specific danger to the employee's or public's health and safety |
| Step #1: Report the concern to your immediate supervisor
It is most important that the immediate supervisor be made fully aware of the alleged improper activity as soon as possible. Supervisors are empowered to deal with such issues or can involve the appropriate University resources to deal with improper or unsafe activities as quickly as practicable. Employees are encouraged to provide as much specific information as possible including names, dates, places, and events that took place, the employee's perception of why the incident(s) may be a violation, and what action the employee recommends (if any) be taken. In instances where the alleged improper activity involves the employee's immediate supervisor, the employee may proceed immediately to step #2. |
| Step #2: Report the concern to your department director/chair
If your supervisor's response does not address the concern to your satisfaction or in a timely manner, you are encouraged to report the incident to the department director/chair. |
| Step #3: Report the concern to your department Dean, Vice Chancellor,
or Provost
If your department director/chair's response does not address the concern to your satisfaction or in a timely manner, you are encouraged to report the incident to the Dean, Vice Chancellor, or Provost. |
| Step #4: Alternative Resources Available to employees:
If you are unable to report issues of potential improper activities as described in this policy to anyone in your direct line, alternative resources are available to UNCG faculty/staff members. You are encouraged to report the incident to any of the following resources depending on the type of issue: o Director of Public Safety/Police o University Internal Auditor o Director of Safety or a member of the Campus Safety Committee o Department of Human Resource Services (any manager) |
