UNC Semester in Washington

UNCG students who are interested in an academic internship in Washington, DC are encouraged to consider the UNC Semester in Washington, an internship program for students from the constituent universities in the University of North Carolina system. Seniors, juniors, and sophomores work and study in Washington, DC, while earning full-time academic credit. Sessions are held each fall, spring, and summer.

Benefits
  • A 32 hours/week internship with a Washington, DC public or private sector organzation.
  • a special Washington Experience course
  • An experienced administrative director based in Washington who serves as mentor and helps you arrange your internship.
  • A faculty-in-residence from the UNC system who teaches the Washington Experience course.
  • Housing on Capitol Hill with wireless computing, kitchenettes, a classroom, and an exercise room.
  • A $1,500 stipend to defray costs.
Costs
  • Regular UNCG Tuition & Fees.
  • Housing — approximately $3000.
  • Local Transportation — $500 for Metro/bus pass & occasional taxi.
  • Books & Supplies — $200.
  • Food —Same as off-campus at UNCG.
  • The UNCG Financial Aid Office will work with any student who qualifies for financial aid to assure that the student has the best financial aid package possible.
