ABOUT IARc

We have elected to call our department “Interior Architecture” as a statement of our belief that design education is a holistic and multidisciplinary activity. We believe that learning to be a designer is a complex and rigorous task, requiring devotion and passion.

A day of visioning + action for local food issues
On Wednesday, October 22nd, 2014, the department of Interior Architecture hosted a day of visioning and action on the topic of local food. Students chose between two different projects. The first project involved ideation for The Serenity Garden at Prince of Peace Lutheran church. Community members involved in the project joined our students in the studio to bring this space to life. The second project took students to The Grafitti Garden in the Glenwood neighborhood. Our students and faculty helped to beautify this permaculture garden project designed to foster youth education. We weeded, dug for a pond, and built a fence out of old bicycle parts. Each project, in different ways, applied design thinking to build community and education around local food issues. We look forward to continuing our engagement with these community partners who are doing such wonderful work in Greensboro.
