Scott Richardson is the founding principal of Light Defines Form, Inc. an independent architectural lighting design firm based in Greensboro. LDF is collaborating on projects throughout the US; many of which are LEED registered. Recent and ongoing work includes the Quintiles Headquarters Building (Durham), Wachovia / Wake Forest joint conference facility and Wachovia Securities retail brokerage center (Charlotte), and Thompson Theater and Lightner Public Safety Center (Raleigh). In Greensboro, Scott's work can be seen at the Center City Park and at the recently completed School of Education NC A &T State University.
Before returning home to North Carolina, Scott was a lighting designer at Cline Bettridge Bernstein Lighting Design in New York City where his work was integral to successful designs of residences and corporate, educational, cultural, and commercial facilities around the world. Award winning projects include the Smith College Fine Arts Center, Symphony Space, the Besthoff Sculpture Garden at the New Orleans Museum of Art and the School for the International Center of Photography.
Scott is a member of the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) , the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA) and the US Green Building Council. He maintains the “LC” credential from the National Council on the Qualification of Lighting Professionals. His past and continuing education includes substantial work in the physical, psychological and physiological interaction between light, space and occupants. Scott's awards include the Southeastern Theater Conference's Lighting Excellence Award, the New York Illuminating Engineering Society's Lumen Award, the IESNA Award of Merit and the coveted IALD Award of Excellence.
