As the Director of the Office of Innovation Commercialization, Lisa brings years of experience with her to the position. She was instrumental in establishing and building the infrastructure of the office in its early stages and continues to engage in support of more collaborative interactions with industry.
Lisa is an Alumna and a Summa Cum Laude Graduate from the Bryan School of Business and Economics at UNC Greensboro, and holds a B.S. degree in Information Systems and Operations Management, with a minor in Economics. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in the Public Policy Department at UNC-Chapel Hill. Her research interests lay in science and technology policy, economic development policy, and academic policy areas in support of academic intellectual property commercialization efforts across the UNC system.
She came to the Office of Innovation Commercialization after working at the Center for Creative Leadership in Greensboro, NC, and has previous university experience at both the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and Princeton University. She is a member of the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM) the Technology Transfer Society (T2S), and the Licensing Executives Society (LES).

Staton Noel joined the Office of Innovation Commercialization in January 2011. Staton graduated from North Carolina State University with a B.S in Biological Sciences (Honors Option in Biochemistry) in 1984. He brings 20 years of experience developing and leading research projects during the early phases of drug discovery. He has experience in discovering and developing novel therapies for the chronic diseases that people acquire as they age such arthritis, osteoporosis, hormonal changes and even mechanisms involved in aging itself.
At the Office of Innovation, Staton will be the involved in the initial evaluation of invention disclosures, market research, and assessing the commercial viability of products or processes, determining appropriate intellectual property protection, and negotiating licensing agreements. He is currently finishing his MBA and M.S in Gerontology at UNCG.

Kay began work in the Office of Innovation Commercialization on January 1, 2010. Her primary responsibilities as business officer for the Office of Innovation Commercialization include managing the day to day operations of the office. She is responsible for the business administration as well as the financial management of the office as she works closely with the Director of Innovation Commercialization.
Prior to her assignment in the Office of Innovation Commercialization, Kay held positions in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies, and most recently in the Office of Sponsored Programs. She held multiple positions in the Office of Sponsored Programs formally known as the Office of Research Services. Kay has worked at UNCG for 15 years.

Sheryl Lieb joined the Office of Innovation Commercialization in January 2012 as a Licensing Assistant. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. from UNCG within the Department of Educational Leadership and Cultural Foundations. Her program of study is Educational Studies with a Concentration in Cultural Studies. Sheryl also received her Masters Degree in Library and Information Studies from UNCG and a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish from NC State University.
With a background in public education and librarianship, Sheryl is currently focused on her passion for higher education, particularly in terms of its philosophical and cultural frameworks. With regard to her work in the OIC, she anticipates playing a key role in advancing projects of educational research, innovation and knowledge production and application that will both serve the public good and support the creative endeavors of UNCG’s faculty, students and staff.

Bill Tyminski received a B.S. and M.S. in biology and a Ph.D. in geography from Eastern Connecticut State University, Georgia State University (GSU), and The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG), respectively. His doctoral research, “The Utility of Using Sugar Maple Tree-Ring Data to Reconstruct and Predict Maple Syrup Production in New York,” was funded by the National Science Foundation and in 2010, Bill was selected and served as a National Science Foundation GK-12 Fellow. Bill has a background in physiology, coral reef ecology, dendrochronology, and agroforestry and previously taught numerous biology courses at GSU and physical geography and climatology at UNCG.
Currently, Bill is pursuing an M.B.A. to facilitate and marry his science and business interests and skills.

Jenna Berasa joined the OIC in August of 2011. She is originally from Hickory, NC and currently a junior at UNCG. She is majoring in Sociology with a concentration in Criminology and minoring in Human Development and Family Studies. Following graduation, she plans to move to Miami, FL to pursue her degrees.
As the Office Assistant for the OIC, Jenna assists in managing the day-to-day operations of the office, including financial management and file management. She also handles the daily work flow of information through the office such as phone calls, emails, messages, and faxes. In addition to assisting the OIC's Business Officer, she is instrumental in the organization of the OIC.

Dominic Longo joined the Office of Innovation Commercialization in September 2011. He is currently pursuing a J.D. from Elon University School of Law and will graduate in May of 2012. Dominic graduated from Stetson University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 2008.
Dominic has experience in the technology transfer field through a summer internship with the East Carolina University Office of Technology Transfer. He is also currently a research assistant for one of his professors at Elon where he is focused on patent, trademark, and copyright research.
At the OIC, Dominic is responsible with researching legal issues that arise in relation to the technology transfer process, including, but not limited to, research dealing with statues, case law, and patent searches.
