On September 20, 2012, IPC honored degree-seeking international students at UNCG at the Academic Achievement Awards Reception. The students gathered to celebrate each other's academic successes and were joined by the following UNCG faculty and staff: Dr. Laura Chesak (Associate Dean of the Graduate School), Dr. Brad Teague (Director of INTERLINK Language Center), Pamela Harrod (Director of International Admissions), Michael Elliott (Director of International Student and Scholar Services), and Norma Velazquez (Assistant Director of International Student and Scholar Services). Students were most appreciative of the Academic Achievement Awards Reception as it brought together students from different nations and academic programs at UNCG. Among those awarded was Mohamed Berray (Cairo, Egypt), a degree-seeking Fulbright graduate student in the Library and Information Studies program who has received the reward three consecutive semesters. Another recipient, a doctoral student in the Communication Sciences and Disorders program, shared her appreciation for IPC's efforts in providing a supporting environment for international students and celebrating their academic successes.
During spring semester 2012, a total of 126 undergraduate and graduate degree-seeking international students achieved a 3.5 or better GPA, a prerequisite for this award. Congratulations to all!
