7/15/00  Miguel Angel Mosteiro   mmosteri@dc.uba.ar

My name is Miguel Angel Mosteiro from Argentina, I attended to the
Interlink Program on the first term of this year, I'm Engineer and I'll
apply to a Computer Science PhD at the end of this year.
I was very motivated and my teachers did a lot to improve this
motivation. By the way, I want to mention that both of my teachers (Tatia &
Kristie) were excellent. They were so enthusiastic and they had so positive attitude to
help us improving our language skills and also to teach us how to work in
an American University, that I was fascinated with them.

I was surprised also with my classmates and the friendly climate that you obtained in the classes.

It was great  I made a lot of new friends from all over the world.

I was checking the website for the Interlink Language Center, I
remembered the year that I spent it at the center studying
English. (Ooh God), It was the best days for me in the US. I
cannot forget how much fun I had with the faculties and the
courses that I have taken at ILC. MY name is Ali Q AL-Lawati
and I am from The Sultanate of Oman. I attended ILC (UNCG) from
OCT 97 to Aug 98. I have learned a lot while I was enrolled in
ILC. First of all, I learned how to communicate with people
from different cultures around the world especially American.
Second, I learned English, which was the reason for my
enrollment I learned, how to write research papers, long essay
and express my feelings. Moreover, I had the best time in my
life, with ILC we went to a lot of trips, formal/informal
parties, and much more. Before my enrollment in ILC I took a
TOEFL test, I got 445, after my graduation from the ILC, I got
600. Because of ILC, my GPA for my first semester at UNCG was
3.5. My Major is computer information system and I go to the
University of the Pacific (Stockton, CA). Although UOP is a
hard school, I don’t have any difficulties in understanding my
professors. I am doing well in my sophomore year and hope I do
good until I graduate. I want to thank Kristy, the teacher who
always made us laugh and smile. Kristy made us feel like we are
home; I never felt that I am so far from home. David Ship, he
was the best teacher. He knew exactly what we need, what to
teach and how to teach. Finally, I would like to thank Dr.
Parsons (Director of INTERLINK at the UNC - Greensboro) was
like a father to us in the US, he helped us and solved almost
all of our problems. I hope one day I could visit Greensboro
and meet all the friends, ILC faculties to thank them, and to
have the good time again.

This is my first semester in MBA program at UNCG. Although I had a hard
time understanding the professor in the very first class I attended,
everything is better now. Most of my classmates are American and study
part-time. That's why I always have classes in the evening.
I found that Interlink helps me a lot in improving my English skill. I
enjoyed various activities and trips while I was studying there and also met
a lot of friends from many countries. But after studying at Interlink,
everyone is apart....
However, I will always think about good time we shared together...and
I'm sure the others will do so.

Hi! Yes, I would love to tell you what I'm doing now
at Appalachian State University. I'm taking "English" ,
"English1000", "Intro Music", "Freshman
seminar" and "Intro Business". All teachers are very
nice, and I can feel confortable in my classes. My
class mates are also very nice, and I met many friends
there. I am the only one who is freshman in business
class. What is worse, I am the only one who is
international. So it is very hard for me to keep up
with American students. But they try to help me, so I
have no problem now. My homesickness is getting
better. I used to call my family every two or three
days, but now I call them every four days! (There is
not much difference?!)
By the way, I'm planning to visit my friends in
Greensboro during fall break!!

I am studying in UNC at Charlotte leading to
Adult Nursing. It's hard for me and I still have problem in English. All my
classes are held in the night, and my classmates are working in the clinic,
almost were married, I thought. Well, I study alone, sometimes, I will feel
lonely. I miss the time when I was in Interlink.

About my stories at Campbell University, I don't think it's interesting enough because
all I have to do here is just studying. There are a lot of activities, but I
have no time to participate. I have to work harder than American students in
my classes because I'm the only foreign student in this program. However, I
think that what I got from Interlink could help me so much. For instance, in
my Scientific Literature Seminar class, I have to write summary from scientific
literature. It's rather easier for me because Kristy practiced us to write
summary every Friday. Dean's class also help me a lot in speaking and prepared
me about presentation which I have to do  next week.
Here, I have a lot of foreign friends, and one of them is Vivian's friend
from Taiwan. I feel that Interlink not only improve my English, but also
open my world to meet a lot of people.
