Kazan State University is a comprehensive, state-assisted institution of higher education that offers a wide variety of undergraduate, master's, specialist's and doctoral degree. Kazan State University is located in city Kazan.

Kazan is the capital of Tatarstan Republic that is located in the center of the European part of Russia on the banks of the Volga and Kama Rivers. Kazan is situated 800 kilometers east of Moscow on the left bank of the Volga River and on both banks of the Kazanka River. The time there is the same as in Moscow (i.e. London plus 3 hours). The population of Kazan is 1 million 100 thousand. Near the half of this number are the Russians and another half - the Tatars. Both Tatar and Russian languages are used in town and taught in school. Kazan is an important historical and cultural centre. It takes pride in having one of the best and oldest universities of Russia and twelve higher educational institutions.
The city abounds in places of culture and arts: museums, exhibitions halls, theatres, Philharmonic society, circus, concert halls and movie theatres offer a range of cultural and recreational programs.
