of Information: Federal Agencies
- GLOBUS
& NTDB
-- Access this area for current and historical trade-related
releases, international market research, trade opportunities,
country analysis, and our trade library...the National Trade
Data Bank (NTDB).
- The
International extension of the
National Science Foundation
(NSF) enables and encourages U.S. scientists, engineers, and
their institutions to avail themselves of opportunities to
enhance their research and education programs through international
cooperation.
- Check
out "STAT-USA"
for access to data from 50 Federal sources. STAT-USA is a
service of the U.S. Department of Commerce. It is the site
for the U.S. business, economic and trade community, providing
authoritative information from the Federal government.
- USAID
Regions & Countries. The U.S Agency for International
Development is the U.S. federal government agency that implements
America's foreign economic and humanitarian assistance programs.
USAID's history goes back to the Marshall Plan reconstruction
of Europe after World War Two.

Association for Asian Studies grants and fellowships.
- ASOR.
Its mission is to initiate, encourage and support research
into, and public understanding of, the peoples and cultures
of the Near East from the earliest times by fostering original
research, archaeological excavations and explorations.
- CIEE.
Council on International Educational Exchange
- CORDIS.
The Community Research and Development Information Service
is maintained by the European Community. The "Programmes"
link provides a search form to locate EC research and development
projects in over 40 subject areas.
- DAAD.
German Academic Exchange Service sponsors study and research
in Germany.
- IREX.
The International Research & Exchanges Board is promotes
advanced field research and professional training programs
between the United States and the countries of Central and
Eastern Europe, Russia, Ukraine, Central Asia, the Caucasus,
Eurasia, China, and comparable contiguous societies.
- MacArthur
Foundation.
The Grant Program on Global Security and Sustainability focuses
on arms reduction and security policy, ecosystems conservation,
and population, and on three cross-cutting themes: concepts
of security and sustainability; new partnerships and institutions;
and education about United States interests and responsibilities.
- Monbusho
Scholarships.
A number of scholarships are available for non-Japanese students
to study in Japan from the Japan Information Center in Atlanta,
GA.

Several

search engines. For international programs consult the "Grant
Advisor" and "SPIN". The "Community of Science" search engine,
however, is quickly becoming a most important tool in locating
out-of-country sponsors. Unfortunately, there is a catch: Many
of these data bases may only be accessed from on-campus computers
because of vendor and license agreements.
