UNCG Announces Faculty Retirements

GREENSBORO—Faculty members who have rendered a total of more than 460 years of service to The University of North Carolina at Greensboro are retiring this year.

Chancellor Patricia A. Sullivan honored the faculty at a retirement dinner on April 22. Most of the faculty members are retiring at the end of this academic year or during the summer, while others retired during the year. The faculty members and their years of service are as follows:
 

• Dr. Eddie C. Bass, professor, School of Music, 35 years
• Dr. Sue A. Beeson, assistant professor, School of Nursing, 26 years
• Dr. Ronald D. Cassell, associate professor, Department of History, 37 years
• Dr. Marilyn L. Evans, associate professor, School of Nursing, 26 years
• Dr. Michael F. Farona, professor, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, 13 years
• Dr. Gaylord T. Hageseth, professor, Department of Physics and Astronomy, 38 years
• Dr. Harvey B. Herman, professor, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, 34 years
• Dr. David G. Herr, associate professor, Department of Mathematical Sciences, 29 years
• Dr. Peter G. Kauber, lecturer, Department of Information Systems and Operations Management, 10 years
• Henry T. Kirby-Smith, professor, Department of English, 35.5 years
• Dr. James C. Prodan, associate dean and professor, School of Music, 23 years
• Dr. William W. Purkey, professor, Department of Counseling and Educational Development, 27 years
• Dr. David E. Purpel, professor, Department of Curriculum and Instruction, 30.5 years
• Susan P. Shroyer, lecturer, Department of Specialized Education Services, 11 years
• Dr. Roch C. Smith, professor, Department of Romance Languages, 33 years
• Dr. Nancy N. Vacc, professor, Department of Curriculum and Instruction, 26 years
• Linda B. Wheeler, clinical associate professor, School of Nursing, 9 years
