Best of Ottawa Student Animation Featured at Carolina Film and Video Festival

GREENSBORO - The Carolina Film and Video Festival will screen The Best of the Ottawa Student Animation Festival 2003, a compilation of outstanding works accepted and honored in Ottawa, on Thursday, Feb. 19, at 7 p.m. at The University of North Carolina Greensboro.

Held every very other year, the Ottawa Student Animation Festival is widely regarded as one of the most important venues for new animation in the world. The festival showcases animation from the best schools across the planet.

In addition, “Perpetual Motion” by Kimberly Minor, the most recent Student Academy Award winner in animation, and “Unearthed” by Christina Spangler, a film from the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design's animation program, will also be screened as part of this special tribute to the art of the animator.

Admission to the program is included in the evening’s ticket for the Carolina Film and Video Festival, priced at $6 per adult and $4 for students. Following the animations, audience members will get to view the second evening of competitive screenings in the 2004 Carolina Film and Video Festival.

Since some of the pieces shown in this screening are not suitable for children, parental guidance is advised; and children will be admitted only when accompanied by a parent or guardian. Tickets are available through the university box office. Call (336) 334-4849.
