JULIE KOSEY IS NEW DIRECTOR OF N.C. WELLNESS COUNCIL
GREENSBORO--Julie Kosey of Garner has been named director of the Wellness Council of North Carolina, which is headquartered at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
The Wellness Council is part of the Institute for Health, Science and Society at UNCG. It provides wellness training and consultation to approximately 175 businesses and organizations statewide. It is one of 14 such councils operating in the United States.
Kosey served as the employee wellness coordinator at Rex Healthcare in Raleigh where she developed a comprehensive award-winning employee heath program. Her program won the Governor's Award for Worksite Health and Fitness and the Gold Well Workplace Award. Kosey has given presentations at the National Wellness Institute, the American Journal of Health Promotion Conference and the American Psychological Association/National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health. She received her master's degree in wellness management at Ball State University.
The N.C. Wellness Council is part of the Wellness Councils of America.
Its overall goals are to increase the number of organizations offering
health promotion/disease prevention programs, to serve as a link between
the business community and health care providers, and to serve as an innovator
in program development and activities.
