UNCG LISTED IN PRINCETON REVIEW GUIDE,
"THE BEST 331 COLLEGES: 2000 EDITION"

GREENSBORO--The University of North Carolina at Greensboro has been added to the 2000 edition of The Princeton Review guide, "The Best 331 Colleges."

Published since 1992, this annually-updated book is a guide to colleges and universities that The Princeton Review considers the "cream of the crop" in the nation. Less than 10 percent of America’s 3,500 colleges are included. The ranking is based on how students at the colleges evaluated their own schools in a survey conducted by The Princeton Review. The review also includes data reported by the institution.

"It’s a great honor and distinction for the University to be included in ‘The Best 331 Colleges,’" said James Black, associate provost for enrollment services at UNCG. "The guide denotes universities of high quality and reasonable cost and shows that UNCG is a great educational value for students."

Comments by UNCG students include the "small-college atmosphere that allows real interaction between students and professors," "our excellent residential college system offers students the chance to socialize with peers and professors," "beautiful recreation center," and "Greensboro is located in the perfect place."

The University also received high marks for ethnic diversity and interaction among diverse students, athletic facilities and computer facilities. Complaints focused on parking and lack of intercollegiate sports teams.

The book became available nationwide in bookstores on Aug. 31. Also listed are nine other North Carolina institutions: Guilford College, UNC-Asheville, UNC-Chapel Hill, N.C. State University, Duke University, Wake Forest University, Davidson College, Catawba College, Warren Wilson College.
