MFA Dance Concert Celebrates Chinese New Year
GREENSBORO - The UNCG Department of Dance will present a “Celebration of the Chinese New Year” on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 20 and 21, at 7:30 p.m. in the Dance Theater located on Walker Avenue.
The Year of the Monkey celebration is a personal expression of the life experiences of Taiwanese choreographer, Lily Culp. The dances were inspired by Chinese legend, history, philosophy and religion. The concert is the culminating project for Culp's MFA degree in dance from UNCG.
The cultural celebration will include hands-on activities for the entire family. There will be a Chinese ribbon dance where everyone will be able to show off their talents along side of some of UNCG’s finest dancers. Calligraphers will be on staff to translate your name into Chinese. At the end of each night there will be a raffle giving away selected decorations.
Tickets will be available through
the University Box Office and reservations can be made by calling (336)
334-4849. Admission is $10 for adults, $7 for students and seniors,
$5 for UNCG students, $2 for children 10 years of age and under.
