UNCG ALUMNI ASSOCIATION ELECTS
NEW OFFICERS, TRUSTEES TO BOARD

GREENSBORO -- Three new officers and seven new trustees have been elected to terms on the board of trustees of the Alumni Association of The University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Sarah Langston Cowan of Greensboro, a member of the Class of 1965, is president-elect of the association. Cowan, a textile consultant who also received her Ph.D. degree from UNCG, will assume the presidency of the UNCG Alumni Association during the summer of 2000. She will succeed A. Elizabeth Keever of Fayetteville and serve a two-year term. She previously taught at UNCG, N.C. State University and High Point University.

The other new officers and trustees, who have begun three-year terms on the Alumni Association board, are as follows: 

  • First vice president, Lynne Mahaffey, Class of 1960, of Columbia, S.C.;
  • Second vice president, Judith B. Carlson, Doctor of Education (1980), of Boone;
  • District One, Janice Atkinson Cutchin, Class of 1959, Tarboro;
  • District Four, Theron Kearns Bell, Class of 1977, of Robbins;
  • District Five, Kerry A. Gustafson Jr, Class of 1993, Morrisville;
  • District Seven, Steven G. Wicker, Class of 1991, of Greensboro;
  • District Eight, Annette Ogletree-McDougal, Class of 1982, of Rural Hall;
  • District 12, Linda Heffner Chester, Class of 1963, of Morganton;
  • Out-of-State, Joanne Goldwater-Dement, Class of 1981, of Lexington Park, Md.
