BRYAN SCHOOL ADVISORY BOARD MEMBERS NAMED
GREENSBORO -- Business executives from the Piedmont Triad area
have been named to the business advisory board of the Joseph M. Bryan
School of Business and Economics at The University of North Carolina
at Greensboro.
Nine new members have been named to the board, which now has
39 members. Dennis Glass, who is president-financial operations, CFO,
Jefferson Pilot Financial, will continue to chair the board.
The group serves as an advisory board to Dean James K. Weeks
on ways the school can better meet the needs of the Triad's business
and professional community. The Bryan School is the largest of UNCG's
six professional schools, with approximately 1,800 undergraduates and
400 graduate students.
"We are delighted that these leaders from the business
community are joining the Bryan School's advisory board," said Weeks.
"To be successful in serving the Piedmont Triad, we must have advice
and support from significant business leaders, both from this region
and beyond. These new members are joining a board that is already
exceptional. We look forward to the contributions they can make to the
Bryan School."
New members named to three-year terms by the UNCG Board of
Trustees are Gayle Anderson, president, Greater Winston-Salem Chamber
of Commerce; James A. Black Jr., principal, vice president and
broker-in-charge, Weaver Grubar and Black; Patrick Burns, CFO,
Precision Fabrics Group Inc.; Jan Capps, vice president of Human
Resources, Novartis Crop Protection Inc.; William Cassell, president,
Cassell Properties Inc.; Terrence Geremski, CFO, Guilford Mills Inc.;
Nancy High, executive director, International Home Furnishings
Marketing Association Inc. and vice president of Marketing Services,
American Furniture Manufacturers Association; Thomas Payne, president,
VF Services; Steven Wagner, Triad Market president and commercial
market manager Piedmont region, First Union National Bank.
Members reappointed for additional three-year terms were
Deborah Hooper, president and general manager of WFMY-TV; Kenneth
Kaczmarek, consultant with Kaczmarek and Associates; Nido Qubein,
chairman of Creative Services Inc.; and Lawrence Himes, president,
Burlington Menswear.
Formed in 1986, the advisory board has five general purposes:
provide advice on the school's service to the business and
professional community; serve as a sounding board for research
projects, educational programs and external activities; provide a
mechanism for informing the business and professional community about
the capabilities of the school; assist in developing funding
priorities and strategies for the school; provide a clearinghouse for
faculty to speak and consult with organizations, and for professional
and business community members to enter the classroom.
