PROFESSOR CHOSEN FOR BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF NATIONAL COUNCIL ON FAMILY RELATIONS

GREENSBORO -- Dr. David H. Demo, a professor and chairperson of the Department of Human Development and Family Studies at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, has been named to the board of directors of the National Council on Family Relations.
Demo will serve a two-year term beginning this fall. The nine-member board makes policy and budgetary decisions for the organization.
The 5,000-member National Council on Family Relations is composed of family researchers and practitioners from around the world.
A social psychologist, Demo has conducted extensive research on family structure and relationships and their effects on children's well-being. He is the co-author or co-editor of four books, and a fifth will be released this fall. He also is the author of numerous articles and chapters for professional journals and books. He has presented papers at professional conferences and meetings around the world.
A UNCG faculty member since 1996, Demo received his doctorate from Cornell University. ####
