GRADUATE STUDENT AWARDS
PRESENTED AT UNCG FOR 1999

GREENSBORO -- Graduate students at The University of North
Carolina at Greensboro received awards for research and teaching
during the institution's Celebration of Excellence.
The honors were presented by Dr. Brad Bartel, dean of the UNCG
Graduate School and associate provost for research.
Five graduate students each received Graduate Teaching
Assistant Awards of $200 each. The winners were as follows:
* Jewell R. Mayberry of Salisbury, Department of English,
College of Arts and Sciences;
* Alice L. Hall of Greensboro, Department of Human Development
and Family Studies, School of Human Environmental Sciences;
* Katherine L. Hibbard of Greensboro, Department of Curriculum
and Instruction, School of Education;
* Holly M. Pigg of Greensboro, Department of Public Health
Education, School of Health and Human Performance;
* Anne M. Sargent of Greensboro, School of Music.
* Elizabeth "Betsy" Thompson of McComb, Miss., received the
Outstanding Thesis Award for the Master of Fine Arts degree in drama
in the Department of Broadcasting/Cinema and Theatre. She received the
honor, which carried a $500 cash award, for her MFA thesis role as
Maggie in the Tennessee Williams' drama, "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof."
