SCHOOL OF HUMAN ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES
PRESENTS PACESETTER AWARDS TO ALUMNI
GREENSBORO -- Four alumni have received Pacesetter awards from
the School of Human Environmental Sciences at The University of North
Carolina at Greensboro.
Dean Helen Shaw presented the awards on May 14 during Reunion
Weekend activities.
Pacesetter Awards recognize alumni's commitment to the school.
The following alumni received Pacesetter Awards:
* Dr. Audrey M. McCrory of Greensboro, who has taught at Elon
College, High Point University and Guilford Technical Community
College, and has worked as a counselor of older adults in
Winston-Salem. McCrory was president of the Human Environmental
Sciences Alumni Association during 1997-98 and initiated a campaign to
increase the association's undergraduate scholarship. A graduate of
Marquette University, she earned master's and doctoral degrees from
UNCG.
* Jean Hall Reece of Greensboro, director of school nutrition
services for the Guilford County Schools. She serves as chair of the
HES Alumni Association board and has served the school as a mentor to
undergraduate students. She has lead the HES board in establishing a
new graduate fellowship. She received her bachelor's degree in home
economics with a concentration in food and nutrition from UNCG.
* Dorothy Elliott Sink of High Point, office manager with
Guil-Rand Veterinary Hospital. Sink is a past president of the HES
Alumni Association and served on UNCG scholarship committees. She
recently established the Dorothy Elliott Sink Student Award Fund for
undergraduate students in the School of Human Environmental Sciences.
She is a 1951 graduate of Woman's College, which is now UNCG.
* Dr. Rinn McLellan Cloud of Tallahassee, Fla., the Margaret
A. Sitton Professor and chair of the Department of Textiles and
Consumer Sciences at Florida State University. During her career, she
also has taught at Louisiana State University and Virginia Tech.
Colleagues have praised her for her commitment to high standards for
faculty and students. She received a Ph.D. degree in textiles from
UNCG.
